Broke after one week, leaking and lost screw pitch

I have a standard tap in my garden and was looking to install an automatic irrigation system for when on holiday.
At first the grip on the tap wasn’t great and the unit was leaking a couple of drops but it worked decently. I have just returned home to find that the part that screws onto the tap leaked a lot. When I removed it I noticed it has lost the pitch.
The plastic the product is made of is very easily damaged. I couldn’t even advice on how to prevent this, since I have a standard tap and didn’t use force nor did anything unusual to screw it onto it. My advice is: when you receive the product make sure you set it up asap and start using it. You only have about 4 weeks to return it so this should be enough time to see if there’s a problem. Screw it and unscrew it a few times, the material is very easily damaged.

Very disappointed and unfortunately I have lost the return window now.

I’ve been using the Gardena range for irrigation in the garden for years, and when i looked at upgrading the timer computers, was really horrified at the cost of either the blue tooth or the WIfi version.

I started looking on Amazon for an alternative and i am so pleased with this control. In fact i’ve now bought 3 as they were on offer in February ready for the warm weather to come.

The app is Called HomGar, and it’s easy to set up. All three controls I bought have connected to one wifi access point, all three connected when in the garden too. - we have a pretty large garden so I bought the version with the greatest range as our wifi doesn’t reach the bottom of the garden but the Bluetooth just the trick. Lots of possibilities for timings which helps me control when the weather comes on and off far greater than the Gardena computers, which do seem to be more tricky to set up to come on at a specific time and this is really important when you are trying to water your garden when someone needs a shower in the house and you have low water pressure - or a pump.

I can turn on the hose from the greenhouse without having to walk up the garden. Lazy, perhaps but it makes me happy!

I have three controls for 6 areas of the garden, and 2 out door taps, 2 are connected with a Gardena splitter and this works fine.

The feed to the drip system is fine - it’s not really any different from the battery operated controls, these controls just let the flow of water go through.

I have saved so much money using these this product over the Gardena which would have set me back about £600/800 which is ridiculous considering the price of these. Awesome

ADD AN ADDITIONAL WASHER FIX FOR THE LEAK AND NOISE!

At first, I thought this water timer was terrible.

It made an awful whining noise, which made it unbearable to use, and it leaked constantly from the top BSP connector. Even with PTFE tape, it still leaked; the amount of PTFE needed to stop it from leaking made it very tight to screw on, requiring a wrench to tighten and loosen.

After a while of messing around, I realised that the rubber washer which comes with it isn't thick enough, so I added another. This fixed the leak and the whining noise. I have been using two units for about 2.5 months, and there have been no issues connecting to them, either at home or away from home. I have also tested the mains pressure and can confirm that this unit has no reduction on the mains water pressure when using standard-sized hosing. If this unit had come with a decent washer, I would have given this 5 stars.

I also have the Rainpoint 2-channel timer, and apart from the app and addon differences, the performance of this unit is no better or worse than the Rainpoint.

What is really good about this equipment is that the RFID signal to the tap unit penetrates a cavity house wall with foil-backed insulation in it which blocks most other radio signals. I've used a 3-zone timer by this same manufacturer for over a year to manage my backyard sprinklers and irrigation and absolutely love it. Recent expansions necessitated the addition of a 4th zone, and this larger timer performs just as brilliantly as its 3-zone sibling. It's the same width as the 3-zone, so it fits just as well with my spigot but is thicker due to the way the four zones are staggered to manage the internal valve arrangements. It's also noticeably heavier and comes with a steel bracing bracket and attachment screws should you need it. It's powered by a set of 4 AA alkaline batteries (not included) that fit into a sealed compartment so it can operate rain or shine. Each of the hose attachment points for the circuits takes a 3/4" easily with deep threads for a tight seal, especially when paired with the included Teflon plumber's tape. The setup for the timer requires you to install the Homgar app on your phone. It's a two-step effort where you first add the Gateway and then add the timer to the Gateway so they pair and can access your WiFi network (2.4 Ghz only!). I love that you can link it as a Skill with Alexa as that allows for voice control of the various zones, giving you three choices (manual, scheduler/app, voice) on how to turn the zones on/off. Each of the four zones produced the same amount of pressure when activated, and the instructions are clear and easy to follow. The home screen of the app shows you all the gateways and timers it has connected for easy management, and you can establish multiple plans for each zone, making seasonal watering a breeze by turning the plans on/off instead of having to constantly revise or delete/add plans throughout the growing season. The app is accessible through any internet connection on your smartphone, making it possible to manage things from a distance as well. It's a great value for the price and saves a lot of time that I used to spend manually watering and shifting sprinklers.

Got the timer with the wifi hub a couple of years ago, then got another timer for the other side of the house last summer. So far both have worked wonderfully. I take them inside over the winter because we regularly get -25 or lower, but they stay out all spring and summer. They were pretty easy to set up on our wifi, and when I got the second timer, it was very easy to add on to the existing hub.
I can set up regular watering times, with different durations; I used extra flow control valves on each outlet to set different pressures, so I could use them for different purposes, like gently watering flowers/herbs for 15 minutes/day on one outlet, and using the other outlet on full flow to water lawn for half an hour every 2 days. It even has presets like Even Days or Odd Days, so you can follow municipal watering restrictions.
You can turn individual outlets on/off from the app, or using Google Assistant, using names that you assign ("Hey, Google, turn on the Front South Hose" or "Hey Google, turn off the Flower Bed"), and you can set a rain delay, so if the forecast if for rain the next few days, you can tell the app to NOT follow the watering schedule for those days.
Definitely glad I got these.

I suppose it was relatively easy to connect to. Not sure why they require a hub, I guess they assume most people don't have good WiFi outside so it's like a range extender. Or maybe . I also don't like it requires its own app when it's just a Tuya device and could easily integrate with the Tuya app or Smart Life app if the developers enabled that functionality, but they'd rather force you to use their app so they can collect your data and show you ads. They can't even be bothered to have a Celsius/Farenheit toggle in their terrible app. Annoying that every smart device has to have its own terrible app these days.

I also don't like how much weight it puts on the spigot. In my opinion they should have included a short extension lead that lets you set the unit on the ground or mount it to something next to the spigot so you don't have the weight of the unit and 4 hoses pulling down.

Would have far preferred it worked with Tuya so it could be easily integrated into Home Assistant. Maybe it can be I just haven't gone down that rabbit hole yet but I couldn't connect with Tuya or Smart Life so I assume they have locked it down to their app.

So far it's worked well. We'll see how well it works over time. I'll update if/when it gives me any problems.
