Why did you choose this product over others?:
Tracking down a work surface that can laugh off my regular DIY disasters is no small feat, yet this LARBANKE bench manages it. The chunky rubber-wood top measures 120 by 50 centimetres and is three centimetres thick; on paper it copes with nine hundred kilograms and, in real life, it simply takes everything I hurl at it. My daughter splashes grout while crafting mosaics, my son launches Tonka lorries from alarming heights, and I still cannot see so much as a dent.
A ring of scale markings runs round the edges. I never thought I would use them, yet they save the day whenever the tape measure has wandered off, which feels like most afternoons. Height adjusts through five positions, anywhere between 85 and 105 centimetres, so I perch on a stool for delicate soldering and then stand tall when planing timber. The locking knobs get fiddly once the top is cluttered, but that is my only real complaint.
Two mains sockets and a pair of USB ports hide beneath the near side, sparing me the usual battle with extension leads, though the power rocker could do with a meatier click. Swivelling castors glide over the dusty concrete in the garage, and the brakes clamp down hard; bare shins have been warned.
Sturdy, adaptable and smart enough for visitors to admire, this bench has earned its spot in our Cardiff terrace and feels like a bargain for the daily battering it receives.
